By coincidence today was the day the the Moussaoui sentence was decided. The progressive position is to be against capital punishment in any case. Statistically I understand that position is about 1/3 of Americans'. That corresponds well with my understanding that about 1/3 of Americans are "progressive". We should note also that statistically this percentage is slowly increasing i.e. there is a gradual trend in America of less support for the death penalty. So this position is fairly clear and easy politically. As President I would do everything I possibly could to abolish the death penalty in the UNITED STATES.
